Bowen Theory Grows Up at the Border

The US/Mexico border has discovered the growing richness of Bowen theory in the study of emotional systems. Individuals who have applied Bowen theory to their own families, clinical work, and work systems have encountered new ways of addressing complex life problems.

The growing maturity of their work addresses complex personal and social issues through an increasingly more accurate view of human behavior. The breadth and depth of their efforts has inspired new offerings for the next year.

These offerings will provide families, organizations, and professionals a consistent way of studying and applying Bowen theory.

  • observing individuals as part of the system
  • understanding the brain and it's function in relationships
  • applying this theory in various systems, including family, church, & work

The Emotional Side of Organizations

What works in families has been proven to work just as well in business, government, military, and religious institutions.

The Anxious Organization

It is no secret that organizations in El Paso, Las Cruces, and Juárez face unusual challenges in dealing with their specific missions. There are predictable patterns that are present in organizations under stress. The study of emotional systems has developed valuable tools to assist leaders and members of organizations in assessing and dealing with these challenges. Make sure your organization is in contact with these developments in Bowen theory courses and conferences this year.

New Curriculum

A new curriculum will take advantage of an extensive library of video productions extending from Dr. Bowen's original work to recent additions from scientists and clinicians. Other courses will offer "basics" in using the family diagram as well as more advanced courses which focus on the application of Bowen theory for family members, clinicians, and others who want to understand human functioning in the context of emotional systems. A focus on science will also assist interested participants to see the most recent connections between Bowen theory and the life sciences.
