WRITING BASED IN BOWEN THEORY

CSNSF will offer three modules of monthly Writing Seminars, individual meetings with a writing coach for one hour each month, and three presentation seminars for critique and practice. Each monthly seminar will be 1½ hours. 

The exact time will be determined according to time zones, based on discussion with those who register.

This online program is designed for individuals with a background in Bowen theory and experience in working toward differentiation of self who are motivated to dedicate time to begin or advance writing projects. Its purpose is to further quality publications and presentations based in Bowen theory.

Investment: $500 Per Module

Central Elements of Writing

May 26:  Organizing and Writing Content
July 7:  Resources, Techniques Considerations

Module 1 will frame writing for publication in context of relationships and opportunities for differentiation of self.  It will address how to organize and present content in ways that engage readers, as well as discuss how reactivity to relationships can produce obstacles to writing.  Resources and techniques for beginning and experienced writers will be included.  Each session will include time for questions and discussion.  

Writing Coaching  

Each module includes a one-hour monthly consultation with Katie Long to begin or work on a writing project.

July 28:  Writer Seminar  

Participants in Module 1 can use this two-hour seminar to present project plans, developments and progress for discussion with the seminar leader and other participants.

Writing for Oral Presentation

October 6:  Organizing and Presenting “Live” Content
November 3:  Putting the Elements Together

Module 2 will focus on presenting to an audience with attention to relationships and to differentiation of self.  Engaging an audience requires careful organization and word choice whether speaking from a manuscript or from memory.  Careful attention to emotional elements of the “live” setting is important. The final session will include an opportunity to review and discuss a presentation.  Each session will include discussion and questions.

December 1:  Presenter Seminar  

Each participant in Module 2 will have the opportunity to make a presentation for review and feedback.

Module 3

Routes to Publication

Dates to be announced in January, February and March, 2019

This module will concern navigating emotional processes around print publication, as well as in blogs and other electronic formats. It will consider the importance of relationships as well as differentiation of self. In each seminar, guest faculty will discuss their writing experiences and routes to publishing in various print venues, including popular, professional and scientific, as well as blogs and other digital formats. Each session will include time for questions and discussion.

April 2019:  Presenter Seminar

Each participant in Module 3 will have the opportunity to present project plans, developments and progress toward publication for discussion with the seminar leader and other participants.
